Colne were held to a draw by Market Drayton at home on Saturday. Both sides created chances in a scrappy game but had to settle for a point at the final whistle.

In the opening stages, the Reds found gaps in the visitor's defence and Harry Winstanley and Reece Webb-Foster saw their shots saved by visiting keeper Ashley Rawlins. But at the other end, Colne keeper Hakan Burton needed to make a full length diving save to keep out a 25 yard shot by Jacob Burroughs after seven minutes. And ten minutes later, Burton was in action again diving at the feet of Burroughs in his penalty area after a good attacking move by the visitors.

After 25 minutes, a good run on the right by Tyler Forbes gave Olatunde Bayode the chance to fire a shot on the turn just wide of the visitors’ goal. A minute later, another good Colne attack released Anthony Williams into the Drayton penalty area and his angled shot was knocked away by Rawlins at his near post. As Colne continued to press, Bayode outpaced the visitors' defenders but Rawlins blocked his shot in a one-on-one.

With half time approaching, Drayton came close at the other end when Brandon Price struck the Colne crossbar with a rising shot from inside the area. While at the other end, Rawlins again denied Bayode with another good save.

Ten minutes into the second half Bayode came close with an angled shot just over the bar and two minutes later Webb-Foster saw his shot blocked in the visitors’ penalty area as Colne pressed. But as play swung to the other end, Tom Dean and Forbes made vital headers to clear the danger as Drayton threatened with some searching crosses. And Paul Dugdale made a crucial tackle as Connor Russo burst through midfield on a dangerous counter-attack by the visitors.

In the closing minutes, a corner by the visitors reached Reece Jacobs at the far post, but his header was saved by Burton well placed on the goal-line. Drayton were reduced to ten men with the sending off of Dimitri Dunkley for the use of an elbow, but this came in added time and was too late to affect the outcome of the game.
