Colne through to Lancashire Challenge Trophy Final

Colne edged passed Padiham in the Lancashire challenge cup semi-final at Darwen in front of 605 fans.

Both side put on a real spectacle for both sets of fans and neutrals as they went toe to toe for the third time this season.

Neither side came out on top in the two league meetings, but tonight, there had to be a winner.

Lucas Weaver fired the reds Into a deserved lead on 12 minutes, before he doubled the lead just 7 minutes later.

The reds looked to punish their rivals at any given opportunity, but on 39 minutes, Padiham got themselves back into the game with a strike by David Lynch.

The second half continued with the same intensity, but Padiham ramped up the pressure as they went in search of an equaliser, however multiple chances went by without punishing Colne.

With just over 20 remaining, Colne broke through and Brandon Gough showed his strength to smash an unstoppable shot beyond Hamlett.

6 minutes later, Tyler James nodded hoke from another corner to bring the deficit back to one.

With 5 minutes remaining, it looked certain that Padiham had found their equaliser, however Monks was on hand to deny with an outstanding save from close range, and the reds hung on for the win.

The final is a repeat of the Vets Final against Bamber Bridge and will be played and the LFA County Ground on Tuesday 30th April.
