Colne Football Club can announce that Lucas Weaver has left the club to join Altrincham on undisclosed terms.
Lucas, who won the Golden Boot in the NWCFL attracted attention throughout the campaign, but opted to stay with us until the end of the season, leaves Colne with the most goals for the reds in a single season.
The 22 year old signed from Fulwood Amateurs 24 months ago by Phil Brown. Weaver scored 9 goals for the reds last season, however this season Lucas netted an impressive 42 goals, earning interest from clubs much higher in the pyramid.
Lucas' final moments in a Colne shirt was netting a brace against Bamber Bridge, helping the reds lift a memorable Lancashire Challenge Trophy.
As a part of the agreement, the reds will host Altrincham at the Nori on Saturday 6th July, more details will be released in due course.
Following confirmation of the move to the National League side, Weaver said

I look back with pride and my head held high for what the team and I have achieved during this time. Colne have provided a brilliant platform for me, showed huge trust and confidence and enabled me to showcase my ability, whilst enjoying every second, and for this I cannot thank the club, coaches, staff and fans enough.
It has been a huge honour and pleasure to represent Colne and to play along side such a talented group of players to whom I will always be grateful to have shared the pitch with and gained friends for life. I move on with brilliant memories, especially the Cup Final win just a few weeks ago, which was the perfect way to end my time at such a fantastic and close-knit club.
I will always keep a look out for results and wish Colne the very best for the future!"
